Name: Modoc

The motor vessel MODOC was built for the United States Government in 1944 at Livingston Shipyard in Livingston, Texas. She served as a rescue tug in the South Pacific until 1945. From 1946 until 1959, the MODOC served as a spy ship stationed in Adak, Alaska, monitoring communications and movements by the Russians. In 1959, the MODOC was commissioned into the United States Coast Guard and served in Coos Bay Oregon until she was decommissioned in 1981. Purchased privately in 1989 she underwent a complete restoration and conversion to a charter vessel. This took over five years, and has resulted in a strong, luxurious yacht that has the ability to feel at home in either the warm waters of the South Pacific or breaking ice in the frigid waters of the extreme north.
